Using the ARDL model to measure and analyze effects of determinants of the agricultural labor productivity function in Iraq for the period 1970-2015

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays a very important role in the national economy, which is to provide food security for the population, to provide the necessary economic resources to other economic sectors, as well as its role in absorbing a percentage of employment and its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) Thus in economic growth, as well as its role in increasing agricultural exports and other economic fields. Based on this, the current study aimed Using the ARDL model to measure and analyze effects of determinants of the agricultural labor productivity function in Iraq For the period 1970-2015, to determine the nature of the long-run relationship between the average labour's contribution of agricultural value added and The labour's share of the factors of production (land, fertilizer, machinery and Number of animals) in addition to two Dummy variables that represent the war and the economic blockade. The study also aimed to test the hypothesis of constant return to scale in the model. The study concluded that there is a long-run equilibrium relationship between the explanatory variables with the dependent variable, which is about 100% of the short-run deviations will be modified and corrected in the unit of time i.e. one year, the factors involved in the model as explanatory variables Differ in their effects on the dependent variable which is the labour productivity in the short run and the long run.
