Assessing Shekh Turab Water Resources for Irrigation Purposes by Using Water Quality Index

         An Attempt was made to analyze the water quality of ShekhTurab stream for irrigation purpose. Water samples were collected from 5 sampling sites with two replications for each during July and November 2016. Studied samples were analyzed for electrical conductivity (EC), sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), sodium (Na+1), chloride (Cl-1) and bicarbonate (HCO3-1) contents. The results showed that the values of (IWQI) ranged from (41.11) to (53.65) and all sites were fall within the 4thcategory ‘‘high restriction’’, it is clear that the plants have moderate resistance to salts might be grown in July and should be avoided its use for irrigation under normal conditions and only plants with high salt tolerance in November. Based on the obtained results, it is   recommended   to avoid grow salts sensitive plants to increase agricultural productivity in the study area.
