Analyze the well losses and aquifer losses on the pumping test results

Dana Khider Mawlood

Single well tests may produce pumping, which caused turbulence in the pumping well and invalid water level measurement, therefore a step-drawdown test based on Jacob (1946)'s equation for total drawdown of the well supposed for analyze successive pumping rate, to obtain the total drawdown (sw), in the pumped well, which is the result of linear losses (a1Q), and non-linear losses (a2Qn). The selected method is applied for confined aquifer type well, in Marzan village, related to Basrma sub-district, in Erbil province.  The linear relation between discharge (Q) and specific drawdown (sw/Q) obtained to determine the intercept (a1) and the slope (a2). The amount of losses have been analyzed in the production well and evaluate the results.
