Combination Effects of Different Levels of Compost and Phosphorus Fertilizer on Yield and Phosphorus Requirement by Wheat.
A pot experiment was conducted in the glass house of the college of science, University of Salahaddin- Erbil, to study the effect of different levels of compost (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 Mg.ha-1) and phosphorus fertilizer (0, 50,100,150kg.ha-1) on relative growth rate, phosphorus requirement, and yield component of wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) in sandy loam soil. The results revealed that all the studied parameters such as the highest value of the total dry matter, grain weight, biological yield, grain yield, harvest index, phosphorus content, phosphorus uptake, relative growth rate and phosphorus requirement were significantly increased by the application of compost and phosphorus fertilizer. The height values(27.66g.pot-1,14.08 g.pot-1; 7279.22 kg.ha-1 ; 4232.25 kg.ha-1; 58.14%; 5.79mg.g-1; 160.65 mg.pot-1; 1.38 mg.plant-1.day-1 and 7.90 µg.plant-1.day-1 for above mentioned parameters respectively were recorded with compost 2.5Mg.ha-1 and 150 kg.ha-1 TSP treatment combination.
